Part 2
₹1,00,000 a month on Meta
Spend progressively, scale what works and never confuse cheap installs with successful acquisition. Start with focused experiments, find the creatives that attract devotees who actually complete pooja, and move money toward them over time.

AP + TGPrimary market, Telugu-first creative
AndroidInitial platform, assuming the Android app is launch-ready
1. Goal: optimise for the devotee, not the downloadThe acquisition north star is Cost per Day-7 Pooja Devotee: the spend needed to acquire someone who returns and completes a pooja on the seventh day.
1App installedCost per install (CPI)
2First pooja completedActivation rate and cost
3Morning reminder opted inNotification opt-in rate
4Day-7 pooja completedRetention rate and acquisition cost
Campaigns start as Meta App Promotion optimised for installs while event volume is low, then move to the first_pooja_completed app event once tracking is reliable. Day-7 completion stays the business KPI, read through cohort analytics, because Meta cannot optimise directly for seven-day retention.
2. Audience: narrow in strategy, not in targeting
| Audience | Approach | Priority |
| Telugu-speaking adults 25–54 across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh | Broad geographic targeting, Telugu-first creatives | Primary |
| Professionals living away from family homes within these states | Reached through emotional storytelling, without inferring personal characteristics | Secondary creative |
| Older adults comfortable with digital services | Accessible Facebook creatives and simple app demonstrations | Secondary |
| Telugu diaspora, all-India audiences, iOS users | Defer paid expansion until the core economics are proven | Later |
Deliberately left out: fragmented city-level campaigns, national campaigns without Telugu relevance, and religious-belief profiling. Two broad acquisition ad sets at the start, with different messages tested inside them.
3. Budget split: from experiment to scaleIllustrative monthly ceilings, not spending quotas. Retargeting starts only when an eligible audience is large enough.
Month 1Testing ₹60KScaling ₹40K
TestingScalingRetargeting (₹0, ₹5K, ₹10K)
Month 1 · DiscoverSpend ₹60,000 testing a few strong creative ideas. The other ₹40,000 goes only to approaches with promising activation and retention.
Month 2 · Improve₹30,000 for fresh creative tests, ₹65,000 to validated acquisition, and up to ₹5,000 for eligible re-engagement audiences.
Month 3 · Scale₹70,000 to proven acquisition, ₹20,000 against creative fatigue, up to ₹10,000 for measured re-engagement that adds value beyond free notifications.
If the retention signal is poor, scaling pauses instead of spending to exhaust the allocation. An unusable retargeting allocation returns to validated acquisition or stays unspent.
4. The first 14 days: test cheaply, stop waste earlyThree distinctive messages, six creative variations, two broad ad sets. Not ten campaigns at once.
| Period | Budget | Execution |
| Days 1–4 | ₹12,000 | Launch 3 creative concepts in Telugu |
| Days 5–7 | ₹12,000 | Review CPI and first-pooja completion; stop clearly weak creatives |
| Days 8–10 | ₹15,000 | Test stronger variations of the top 2 concepts |
| Days 11–14 | ₹21,000 | Prioritise promising campaigns; begin reading mature Day-7 cohorts |
| Total testing | ₹60,000 | Identify the strongest acquisition approach |
A · The Two-Minute Morningమీ ఉదయం... రెండు నిమిషాల దైవస్మరణతో.
A 15-second reel showing a whole digital pooja. Hypothesis: convenience drives installs and first-pooja completion.
B · A Blessing for Familyదూరంగా ఉన్నా... మనసులు దగ్గరగా.
A Telugu family story of someone away from home sharing a blessing. Hypothesis: emotional connection brings higher-quality returning users.
C · Today’s Sacred Momentప్రతి రోజుకి ఒక ప్రత్యేకత. ప్రతి ఉదయానికి ఒక ప్రార్థన.
A demonstration of weekday, tithi and festival in the mandir. Hypothesis: relevant daily content gives a stronger reason to return.
Pause
After about 40 installs, pause creatives with first-pooja completion under 50%, or CPI well above ₹130 with no better engagement.
Keep testing
Keep creatives where early activation looks strong but Day-7 data is still immature.
Scale
Prioritise creatives with at least 30% Day-7 pooja retention and a falling cost per retained devotee. Raise budgets 15–20% at a time and watch delivery.
Why CPI alone never picks the winner
Creative A
Cost per install₹75
Day-7 retention15%
Cost per Day-7 devotee₹500
Creative B Prioritise
Cost per install₹100
Day-7 retention40%
Cost per Day-7 devotee₹250
A installs people more cheaply, but B acquires consistent devotees at half the cost.
5. Targets: three-month projectionI would not assume very cheap installs just because the product is free. A 2026 Indian app-acquisition dataset reports a median CPI of about ₹112 for a small astrology and spiritual sample. That is a cautious directional reference, not a Dhaivabhoomi benchmark.
| Metric | Month 1 | Month 2 | Month 3 |
| Ad spend | ₹1,00,000 | ₹1,00,000 | ₹1,00,000 |
| Target CPI | ₹100 | ₹90 | ₹85 |
| Estimated paid installs | 1,000 | 1,111 | 1,176 |
| First-pooja completion | 65% | 70% | 75% |
| Day-7 retention | 30% | 35% | 40% |
| Day-7 retained devotees | 300 | 389 | 471 |
| Cost per Day-7 devotee | ₹333 | ₹257 | ₹212 |
Cost per Day-7 devotee (₹)
The working, Month 1
- ₹1,00,000 ÷ ₹100 CPI = 1,000 installs
- 1,000 × 65% = 650 first-pooja completions
- 1,000 × 30% = 300 Day-7 pooja devotees
- ₹1,00,000 ÷ 300 ≈ ₹333 per retained devotee
Across three months this models about 3,287 paid installs and 1,160 Day-7 retained users, before organic referrals. These are planning targets, not guaranteed results, and each cohort is assumed to have finished its seven-day window.
How the same ₹1 lakh works harder
An opted-in morning reminder brings people back at a much lower marginal cost than paying Meta to reach the same person again. I would set up Firebase and Meta-compatible app-event tracking with privacy safeguards, track first pooja, reminder opt-in and Day-7 pooja, and never send sensitive details such as a user’s chosen deity to ad platforms. Meta also restricts sensitive religious-interest targeting. The ₹1 lakh is a maximum investment to earn repeat devotion, not a monthly obligation to buy traffic.
